Meet St Mary’s Student Council!
A Student Council is a representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and the students.
Democracy and democratic values are a central to school life in St Mary’s. We believe that respectful partnerships between students, parents and school staff help all to learn and grow together, which is our motto here in St Mary’s “Ag fás is ag foghlaim le chéile”. This means that all members of a school community are supported and encouraged to make meaningful contributions to decision-making. A key part of a democratic school community is its Student Council.
Through our Student Council, we hope to give our pupils a more active role in the organisation of our school and ensure that Student Voice is heard and listened to, and that our pupils’ ideas and concerns are respected and valued.
